ARAI, in association with SAE India, NATRiP and SAE International, had organized Symposium on International Automotive Technology (SIAT 2009) from 21–24 January 2009 at ARAI, Pune (India). SIAT 2009 was inaugurated on 21st January 2009 by Shri Sontosh Mohan Dev, Hon’ble Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Government of India, in the august presence of Rt. Hon. Lord Peter Mandelson, Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, Government of UK.
The theme of SIAT 2009 was “Eco-Mobility” aimed at focusing and respecting the five fundamental elements to maintain the balance of nature.SIAT 2009 was very successful with the participation of 900 delegates from all over the world and presentation of 115 technical papers, including 25 keynotes by the eminent experts, in 27 technical sessions spread over 3-day conference.  The deliberations were focused on the key areas such as, Vehicle Engineering, Automotive Safety, Alternate Fuels, Emissions, NVH, Power Plants, Materials and CAE.

The concurrent event, viz. SIAT EXPO 2009, had 134 exhibition stalls, representing 102 organizations from India and abroad, showcasing their products, technologies, equipment, etc. 

Technology Theatres arranged for the first time had participation of the technology and service providers, viz. AVL India, MTS Systems Corporation, Automotive Test Systems, LMS India, Ricardo India and ARAI.   This new initiative received very good response.

The Valedictory function was presided by Dr. Satyanarayana Dash, Secretary, Government of India, Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Department of Heavy Industry.
