Scientists & experts world-over have been cautioning against
the disastrous effect Global Warming can have on earth's delicate
eco-balance. It is about time each one of us takes it seriously
and owns his or her responsibility in adopting eco-friendly
life style. Besides these individual efforts, the roles and
responsibilities of the societies, corporate entities, and
various sectors of economies assume greater importance in
current times, when the speed of development is compounding.
The automotive sector must also shoulder its responsibilities with renewed vigour and explore new avenues to address this global issue while improving upon the prevailing and conventional measures. The entire automotive fraternity covering experts from academia, industry, government and NGO is contributing in this
mission.
Many possibilities are emerging – conventional as well as non-conventional. While there may not be a unified solution to this issue, technologies, strategies and policies are evolving to meet local needs with local resources on one side and minimising the global impacts on other side. Addressing the Global Warming issue, once considered only a social obligation, is now becoming a business necessity. This emerging perspective will further accelerate these efforts.
Eco-Mobility, the theme of SIAT 2009 therefore re-emphasises this mission. I invite you to participate and deliberate in envisioning together a greener, cleaner and eco-friendly world where efficient mobility and precious eco-sphere will
co-exist, peacefully.
SIAT 2009 will also deliberate upon other areas of automotive technology for safer and efficient mobility.SIAT 2007, presided over by Dr. A PJ Abdul Kalam – the then President of India – had been a huge success, thanks to your wholehearted participation. Preparations are underway to make SIAT 2009 more exciting and fruitful.
Let us all join hands to make
SIAT 2009 a resounding success.
